Brentwood Staircase

Design
The design was sketched out during a site meeting between the client and DSJ. The staircase was to be modern to match the interior of the house and to curve round both to add visual interest and allow the staircase to sit in a small space.
Manufacturing
The stair strings were produced from tulip wood, a hardwood which provides a good surface for painting and the stair treads, risers, and handrail were produced from European oak.
Install
The stair was prefabricated in two sections which slotted together on site consisting of the lower curved section and the upper straight run.
The result
The stair was installed, and the monkey tail handrail was fixed with a black painted iron balustrade. The staircase now stands as a feature to the central core of the home.
